Re: The Future of HTC
Besides, I would also like to put more stress on HTC's most powerful opponent - Apple. Needless to say, Apple has been the donimator in the mobile market and set up the benchmark in this industry. Before catching up with Apple, HTC could learn from this respect-worthy rival at least from the following three aspects :
1) Keep on innovation on the both R&D and the demand creation
Undoubtedly, iPhone has reached the highest level of industrial designing and manufacturing. More importantly, Apple has succeeded in creating demand, such as developing the iPad and explored a brand-new market. Even this aspect might be the shortest gap between Apple and HTC, it is still worthwhile for HTC to dedicate more to learn from Apple.
2) Better collaboration and relationship with the mobile operators
Apple’s initial success in US market could be very much attributed to the support of AT&T, the exclusive operator in this market. AT&T not only did much promption works but also offered considerable subsidy for Apple to make a easy price for the mass public. HTC could, at least at the current stage, set up a closer and more constructive relationship with those giant operators in the different markets, especially in the US and China.
3) Experience from Apple store & iTune
One of the most determinant factors of Apple’s triumph is Apple Store & iTune, in which there are the most applications and the relatively low price. With further development, success of the a handset maker more reply on the magnificence of user interface and the completeness of software system. HTC could reply on Android, but still need find ways for the self development independently in future.
While, just as Prof.Ali said, the biggest problem of a company is that it's over toooo successful. Believe many people have smelt some downside tendency of Apple these days which not only existed in the overly excessive ubiquity of iPhone but also in the retire of its captain Steve Jobs. It's a golden opportunity of other handset makers, even IT companies. Definitely, it'll take some more time for HTC to build up its own culture and reputation in this industry, but as the existing second largest smartphoe maker, HTC has been in the best position to challenge or even replace Apple in the future.

Re: The Future of HTC
HTC has several weaknesses. It lacks its own platform, it lacks the brand recognision espencially in US market, it also lacks the scale of economics. HTC can not solve all these issues at the same time since each of these improvements need time and cost, which are the key elements to win the market. HTC should improve step by step. Segment its product, and focus on the customer segmetnation. At the same time, to study its own platform. In the market distribution point of view, HTC should focus on Asia and Europ innitially to gain its brand reputation. Then it has more card to gain the support of operators in US.
I do believe HTC will gain a certain succeed in the market by all its effort, while the way won't be easy. At the same time, HTC stands for a group of enterprises in emerging country trying to brand its product and to make it globally, which is a trend and a kind of industry revolution. Emotionally, I wish these enterprises good luck.

HTC have chance, Samsung also have chance
1. HTC should put the user experience in the first.
2. HTC should pay more attention to Sumsung
3. HTC should continue to cooperate with the operators.

Although HTC is still a very young company, it had delivered extraordinary success in a very short time. Wondering if the current model was sustainable in the long term, they are seeing lots of new entrants into our space, product cycles are getting shorter, and the innovations are breathtaking. New mobile phones are becoming smaller, more functional, more varied with individual tastes and of course, prices will come down in the next three to five years.
HTC had also built its business through its close relationship with Microsoft. HTC could proudly claim that it had shipped 30 million Windows Mobile smartphones, equivalent to three out of every four Windows Mobile phones in the market. But in the aftermath of the iPhone revolution, the success of RIM, the emergence of app stores, and open-source solutions such as Google’s Android, should HTC make further changes? Japan was synonymous with Sony, Korea was synonymous with Samsung, and we all want Taiwan to be synonymous with HTC. They are on the path to make that a reality.

They are building a brand of cell phone which is consisted by the hardware and the software. with the development of the smart phone, software becomes more and more important. With out its own software, HTC is a walking dead.
HTC has to go carefully on the brand, first concentrate on building brand value—that is, more cutting-edge, innovative products such as the Diamond to earn the respect of the end users. Thinking about brand value—Apple equals simplicity, FedEx equals speed, RIM equals mobile e-mail, What does HTC stand for? So it is time for HTC to start brand strategy.

HTC will be one of top three smart phone companies
Three reasons as follows:
1. Strong and much ODM experiences
2. Current (2008) revenue has top 3
3. Focusing on brand building from 2006 year

Re: The Future of HTC
Yes, agree that HTC is in the right track to bigger success. Though all handset producers like Samsung, Nokia, Motorola or HTC have same chance to develop more, HTC is not strong enough compare with Samsung or Nokia to withstand sudden huge strike or change of the market. Accurate positioning is the key factor for HTC to get sustain development in the mobile industry. Just as Ali says, HTC can try to catch up the upper-middle end market, which can avoid the direct competition with Apple, and easily to beat other brands with it's build-up fame of high tech and high quality smart phone in the market.loujia wrote:helenagreat wrote:Li Yang wrote:Jobs gone, and Apple already stay No. for about 10 years(2004---)
